Recently I replaced the Polysulfone quick disconnects with tri-clover fittings. The box from Swagman showed up and I’m pretty geeked about them. These things are pretty slick and quite a deal. These are the fittings breweries use, and are excellent sanitary connections. They’re not as quick to interchange as the Poly or brass QDs, but they’re easy enough to swap around and certainly easier than dealing w/ worm clamps. The big pros are they’re all stainless, don’t leak or suck air, and will last a lifetime. They’re also high-flow rates. Adding these really increase the flow of my pump, and I’ve yet to clog one of these with hops or grain.
How this works is there are three pieces plus a gasket. There is a ferrule to 1/2-inch female pipe fittings, and the clamp and gasket. From here, you can put in a 1/2 MPT barb or nipple to go to a hose or 1/2 MPT fitting.
