In the latest installment of The Same, But Different, we have 1/2-inch hose barbs. Here are two 1/2 MPT-1/2 hose barbs. As you can see, one has significantly lower flow than the other. These barbs can put a choke on your flow volume, particularly if you’ve got a big chunks of grain or hops running through there, even more so if you’ve got multiple throughout your system.

So, check your barbs… replacing mine made a significant improvement.
