The homebrew shop got a bunch of corny kegs in, and I picked up seven more. I was actually only going to get 3-4, but these were in pretty great shape, and I had a good selection to choose from. Most of them had good posts, and they all held pressure. They were very clean, so where ever they came from did a good job getting the gunk out. With no scrubbing involved, they should be pretty easy to recondition for beer. I’ll post a little guide on how I do that later.
This brings me up to 21 beer kegs, and one soda keg. With the recent used freezer, I’ll be able to keep 20 kegs cold, so if I managed to fill them all, I’ll have a floater. I’m thinking the freezer in the garage will be good for long-term storage, so I’d guess 8 of those kegs will be left alone for 6-12+ months. It will be fun to start building up some barley wines, RIS, big Belgians, and even lagers. Last year’s BW is turning pretty good after a year, and the RIS from last summer is too turning out pretty nice. Add my adventures with sour beers, I could fill that auxiliary freezer pretty quickly. :D
