This is an awesome book. I’m marginally into sour beers, and I’ve tried to get into them more since they’re all the craze lately. I read this book last year when putting together my first Flanders Red with the Roeselare blend. I’ve picked it up again a little since I’m planning another here shortly. I may actually just re-read it in entirety.
Probably what’s most interesting is even if you’re not into drinking or brewing sour beers, there’s a lot of great info about the history of these beers, and beer in general. Also, I think this book has some of the best info on the various brewing critters I’ve seen in one spot. In the context of the book, this is how to tame these wild critters, but to general brewing, it’s some great info on fighting them.
So, yeah, this book gave tons of great info on brewing and drinking sour beers, but also some interesting insight into beer in general. It was very thought provoking. I highly recommend it for all brewers.
